Festival Information

The Great Malunggay Festival and Parade will take place at August Ahrens Elementary School, from 10 am to 5 pm. The Festival is a celebration of the food and fun of the Filipino culture, featuring various food, craft, and retail vendor booths, a parade, and entertainment. Event is open to the public; Admission is free. Malunggay, also known as marunggay, calamunggay, or scientifically known as moringa oleifera, and can be seen growing in the yards of many homes in Hawaii. This leafy green tree has recently been touted as a superfood and is common in Filipino cuisine.

The Great Malunggay Festival and Parade is a celebration of Filipino food, fun, and most importantly our community. 

This event will also have an area that will pay tribute to the plantation workers from the sugar cane plantations around Hawaii.

A parade down Waipahu Street will feature a Royal Court and members of the community. Organizers are also publishing a commemorative souvenir program to document this year's event.
